Indeterminism

Indeterminism (in Latin ) is a philosophical doctrine that an event is not (or not only) is determined by causal factors. Indeterminism is the opposite of determinism. In the scientific theory of indeterminism is represented among others by John Dupré, Nancy Cartwright and Patrick Suppes.

In physics, the indeterminism refers to the existence of genuine randomness, ie the real unpredictability of events, especially in quantum mechanics.
