Indian Half-Bred

The Indian Half-Blood is an Indian from the Kathiawari and the Australian Waler horse breed by crossing emerged.

Description

The Indian Half-Blood is a warm-blooded animal. His character can be described as good-natured. It has a noble head, sometimes crescent- shaped ears, sloping shoulders, a deep chest and a straight back and a well-formed hindquarters and powerful legs.

History

The breed originated from a cross between the Indian and the Australian Waler Kathiawari with an admixture of Arabs and thoroughbreds. She was bred in military stud farms targeted as a cavalry horse. The Indian Half-Blood gets on well with the hot and barren Indian countryside and is both hardy and frugal in attitude. Through his foreign ancestors, it is greater and nobler than other indigenous breeds. Earlier it was used as a main means of transport of the Indian Army and is still used as riding horses and pack animal for the few remaining cavalry companies. In many, especially rural regions it serves the mounted police. Civilian use is it as a riding horse in competitions, because it is wise and docile.
