Indianapolis Chiefs

The Indianapolis Chiefs were an American ice hockey franchise in the International Hockey League from Indianapolis, Indiana. The Home of the Chiefs was the Indiana State Fair Coliseum.

History

The Indianapolis Chiefs were founded in 1955 as a franchise of the International Hockey League. After they still occupied the sixth place in their debut season, they moved in the following year for the first time in the final of the Turner Cup one in which they were subject to the Cincinnati Mohawks in the best- of-three series with a sweep. In the following season, the Chiefs moved again in the play-off final, where they nearly beat the Louisville Rebels in the best- of-seven series 4-3. Subsequently, the team was unable to build on this success and came to the resolution of the franchise is not let to the 1961/62 season, the first playoff round addition.
