History

Indianapolis Ice was founded in 1988 as a franchise of the International Hockey League. After they still missed the playoffs in their debut season, the team won in the 1989/90 season for the first and only time under the Canadian Ex - NHL player Darryl Sutter the Turner Cup after the final, the Muskegon Lumberjacks in the best-of -Seven series beat with a sweep. But then Indianapolis was unable to build on this success and reached only in the 1998/99 season again the second playoff round. The following year the team from Indiana joined the Central Hockey League, in which they won at first in the 1999/2000 season the Miron Cup as CHL champions. After another four years in the CHL franchise was founded in 2004 to Topeka (Kansas), Kansas, resettled, where it subsequently took part under the name of Topeka Tarantulas of the game operation of the CHL.
