Ines Diers

Ines Diers ( born November 2, 1963 in Rochlitz ) is a former German swimmer who competed for East Germany.

Career

She originally started her career as a swimmer back to later to focus on the freestyle discipline. At the Olympic Games in 1980 it was over 400 meters freestyle and the 4 × 100 meter freestyle relay Olympic gold medalist. A year later, she won gold at the European Championships over 400 meters freestyle and silver in the 800 meters freestyle.

Diers could improve the European record in the 400m freestyle at the Olympic Games in Moscow and at the European Swimming Championships in Split, are in their career.

In 1980 she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver.

Resignation

In 1982, she ended her swimming career.
