Inessive case

The inessive is a grammatical local cases, which expresses the position in an object. He is one of the secondary local cases in Lithuanian, eg Miške = in the forest. This case is not to be confused with the old Indo-European locative, the only relic way appearing in Lithuanian, eg namie ( home, locative ) as opposed to name ( in the house, inessive ).

A local cases called inessive also occurs in other languages:

  • Finn talo 'house'; kylä "village", but talo - ssa " in the house"; kylä - seh "in the village "
  • Estn maja "house"; küla "village", but maja -s " in the house"; küla -s "in the village "
  • Ungar ház "house"; anchored " garden ", but ház -ban " in the house"; anchored - ben " in the garden "
  • Mar. книга [ kniga ] " book", but книга - ла [ kniga -la ] " in the book"
  • Bask. etxea · n [ ɛtʃɛan ] "in house"
