Inferior gemellus muscle
The Musculus gemellus inferior ( Latin for "lower twin muscle " ) is one of the skeletal muscles of the thigh in the hip region. This lean muscle is below its " twin", the musculus superior gemellus, and lies down on the bottom of the terminal tendon of the obturator internus muscle on.
In the four-footed mammals, the twin muscles are fused into a single muscle, but from comparative- anatomical point of view in the plural form - called - Musculi gemelli.
Function
The Musculus gemellus is inferior involved in the outward rotation of the thigh.
