Inferior thyroid artery

The thyroid artery inferior ( " lower thyroid artery " ) - in animals as thyroid artery caudal called ( " posterior thyroid artery " ) - is an arterial blood vessel of the neck. They furnished along with the superior thyroid artery, which is a branch of the external carotid artery, the thyroid gland. The anatomical variations of this artery are great. You can at least unilaterally even missing completely or be applied twice.

The inferior thyroid artery is a branch of the thyrocervical trunk ( " thyroid neck strain " ) and runs along the anterior scalene muscle cephalad, then turning in an arc medially. The artery runs faced with the vertebral artery and dorsal side of the head pulling neurovascular strand of common carotid artery and vagus nerve. It reaches the thyroid gland and runs along the rear side down to the lower pole, where it is then eventually occurs. It also releases the inferior laryngeal artery which supplies the lower part of the larynx.
