Inferior vesical artery

The artery inferior vesical artery ( " lower bladder artery " ) - in animal anatomy as vesical artery caudal called - is an artery of the pelvic cavity.

The inferior vesical artery artery of man arises from the internal iliac artery and moves to the bladder. It supplies the lower part of the urinary bladder and gives off branches to the ureter, seminal vesicle and prostate gland. In women, it corresponds to the arteria vaginalis.

In other mammals, the caudal vesical artery arises from the prostatic artery or arteria vaginalis. Clinically, it is especially in males is important because it needs to be protected during removal of the prostate ( prostatectomy).
