Infidel

With disbelief, especially the doubt at a presentation or a situation is referred to. Differences are the doubts concerning the correctness of an assertion, an assessment as well as the doubts about the existence and the working of a God, the doctrine of a church or religion in language use.

Sometimes the word infidels of followers of certain religions, such as Islam, is also used for followers of other religions, including for people who see themselves as believers. However, the usual in the German designation for followers of other religions, other faiths. "Infidels " may be atheists, agnostics or Antitheisten.

Islam

As an unforgivable sin in Islam is considered the " unbelief " in its many forms. These include

  • Polytheism and idolatry ( Koran, Sura 4, verse 48 116)
  • Apostasy ( Koran, Sura 4, verse 137: see Sura 16, verses 106-107; Sura 2, verse 217, Sura 3, verse 86-91 )
  • Faith only vorzuheucheln (Sura 63, verse 3) and
  • A life of unbelief until death ( sura 47, verse 34, Sura 4, verse 18).

People who have committed these sins, Allah will not forgive ( see Sura 9, verse 80, sura 63, verse 6 ), even if Mohammed lodged for her intercession ( shafa'a ). In countries where Sharia law prevails ( Islamic law ) threatens the person who publicly pronounce the rejection of faith, the death penalty.

The Arabic term for " infidel " is Kafir. In addition, there is the term murtadd for the waste from the Islamic faith (see also: Ridda and apostasy in Islam ).
