Infraorbital artery

The infraorbital artery ( " sub- orbital artery " ) is a blood vessel of the head. It springs from the third portion of the maxillary artery ( maxillary ) in the pterygopalatine fossa. Then it passes through the foramen in the maxilla maxillary bone, separated by pulling it in the infraorbital canal - together with the same vein, and the nerve of the same name - and enters the infraorbital foramen to the surface of the face.

Still in the area of pterygopalatine fossa is the infraorbital artery from several branches of some external eye muscles and the lacrimal drainage system. In the infraorbital canal it sends branches to the maxillary teeth. After emerging from the infraorbital foramen to supply the upper portions of the front side of the face, where it anastomoses with the terminal branches of the facial artery.
