Ingá Stone

The Pedra do Ingá (Eng. stone of Ingá ) is located in Ingá ( Paraíba ), Brazil, and is an important archaeological site. He is also one of the most interesting and enigmatic rock world. It is located in the center of the Ingá Rivers near the small town of Ingá, 96 km from João Pessoa, the capital of the state of Paraíba, removed. The age can not be determined by means of radiocarbon due to lack of organic materials.

The rock formation covers an area of about 250 m. On a 46 meter long and 3.8 meter high wall are pictures of different characters whose meanings are unknown. It seems reasonable to assume that these are images of animals, fruits, people, constellations like Orion and the Milky Way and other non- recognizable representations. Scientists suspect that the symbols and glyphs come from the locals who lived until the 18th century in this area.

The Ingá Stone is also called Itacoatiara do Ingá. The word Itacoatiara means stone in the Tupi language of the natives.
