Ingeborg-Drewitz-Literaturpreis für Gefangene

The Ingeborg Drewitz Literature Prize for prisoners, established in 1988 and named after the most forcefully entering the concerns of detainees German writer Ingeborg Drewitz, aims to inspire the prisoners to authentic texts and also make it accessible to prisoners literature to the public. The Literature Prize is awarded so far in a three -to four- year cycle, and, as regards the type of text, largely open.

Matter of concern

The basic idea was, and is, the detainees ( and former prisoners ) who have no lobby in the public to allow themselves to speak to not always talk about it, but to get notified of them authentic experiences. The Ingeborg Drewitz Literature Prize, which is unique in Germany in this form, is an additional factor in the German cultural life dar. This is also reflected in the fact that in the past calls, among other things, Martin Walser, George Tabori, Luise Rinser, Friedrich Magirius, ( Superintendent in Leipzig and pastor of the local church Nicolai ) and the then minister of Education of North Rhine -Westphalia, Heinz Schwier, could be won as patrons.

The award ceremony took place in 2008 under the auspices of Heinz Müller- Dietz social institution Coming Dortmund. The anthology " sounds of the night " contains texts of the winners and an afterword by the editor Helmut Koch.

2010 was the price under the theme "If no one sees you ... " ', the award ceremony took place on November 20, 2011 in Bremen.

Structures

The jury consists of six jurors. The basic idea of the price include the parity composition of the jury from the (often former ) prisoners and non - prisoners. The latter is usually trying to attract personalities from the fields of literary criticism, journalism or criminology. In the last tender was also the National Executive Board of the German Writers' Association 's participation, such as the jury, offered.

Among the winners of the Prize include the "prisoner initiative Dortmund ", the " prison Archive" at the University of Bremen, " Chance eV ' Munster ( an association for Offenders ), the Humanist Union of North Rhine -Westphalia, the " National Conference of Catholic prison chaplain, "the" National Conference evangelical prison ministry in Germany "and" documentation center prisoners Literature " at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster. From the numerous entries, the jury will select the most successful and impressive high- texts ( poems, short stories, excerpts from novels, diaries, reports, letters, radio plays, etc.). The winning entries will then be published in an anthology.
