Ingelger

Ingelger, or called in Latin Ingelgerius was a viscount in Anjou in the 9th century. He is the progenitor of the first house of Anjou, whose members are also called after him Ingelgeriden.

About his person, there are no contemporary sources. It is called only in a charter of Count Fulk the Red from the year 929 as his father ( Ingelgerio genitore meo ... ). The first in the 12th century, written by Jean de Marmoutier Gesta Consulum Andegavorum calls a certain Tertullus NOBILEM dux as a father and as a mother of Petronillam Ingelger; a little later written chronicle of Saint -Martin de Tours described him as a nephew of Hugo Abbas. According to the Historia Comitum Andegavorum Ingelger was the Stammler used by the West Frankish King Ludwig II in the office of Vice Count in Orléans and entrusted with the defense of Tours against the Normans. He had also a part of the Anjou gifted by the king.

The Gesta Consulum Andegavorum According Aelindis / Adelais was the wife of Ingelger that was a niece of the bishops of Tours and Adalhard Raino of Angers. Their son was the first Count of Anjou, Fulk the Red († 941).
