Inglefield clip

The Brummel (English Inglefield clip ) is a pairwise connection used item from the shipping and used for easy and fast connection between two lines, in particular of flag halyards. The Brummel was in 1890 by British naval officer Edward Fitzmaurice Inglefield ( hence the name! ) Invented and used by default is in the British Navy since 1895.

The brummel is composed of two chain links which are slit each side. The two edges of the slots are chamfered at an angle of 45 ° up and down. The two parts of Brummelhakens can be slid when their slots aligned, and the parts are rotated by 90 ° to each other. Since the actual slot can be very narrow compared to the hook and the width is determined only by the production, prevents the hooks to separate accidentally or catches a line in the hook. The brummel comes without any moving parts.

The Brummel is also used in the sport of paragliding: it connects the seat belt with the acceleration system of straps and is there referred to as SpeedClip.
