Ingo Mörth

Ingo Mörth ( born May 1, 1949 in degree, Carinthia ) is an Austrian sociologist.

Life and work priorities

Mörth studied at the Johannes Kepler University Linz ( JKU) Business Administration and Sociology, received his doctorate there in 1977 and habilitated there in 1984 just for sociology. He began his academic career in 1973 as Univ. -Ass. at James Woessner at the Institute of Sociology and Social Philosophy in Linz, and was among other things 1978 guest professor at Central Connecticut State University in the United States. After the Habilitation in " Sociology " he was a university lecturer and assistant professor at the Johannes Kepler University and is an associate professor there since 1999. In addition to his work at the Institute for Sociology, he heads the Institute for Cultural Industries and Cultural Research JKU as director of the institute.

His work focuses on sociological theory, sociology of culture, sociology of art, media sociology, sociology of religion, leisure and tourism research and educational research.

Mörth founded, edited and supervised jointly with Gerhard Fröhlich three broad sociological online projects, the global catalogs of the publications of Pierre Bourdieu, Norbert Elias and Clifford Geertz.
