Ingrid Auerswald

Ingrid Auerswald, born Brestrich, divorced Lange ( born September 2, 1957 in Jena, Gera district ) is a former German track and field athlete.

Life

Ingrid Auerswald is an Olympic champion, which belonged in the 1980s to the world's best 100-meter runners. Given the dominance of their teammates Marlies Goehr and Bärbel Wöckel she succeeded no significant victory in the individual race. The more successful she was with the 4 x 100 - meter relay in the GDR.

At the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980, she won the gold medal in the 4 x 100 - meter relay along with teammates Romy Müller, Bärbel Wöckel and Marlies Goehr. In the 100 - meter race she finished third behind Lyudmila Kondratjewa (USR ) and Marlies Goehr ( GDR).

At the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, she was (under the name Ingrid Lange) with the 4 x 100 - meter relay in the GDR Second.

Also with the 4 x 100 - meter relay in the GDR it was 1983 World Champion and 1986 European Champion.

She was involved in seven world records in the 4 x 100 - meter relay team and was co-owner of the long-standing world record ( 41.37 s, together with Silke Gladisch, Sabine Rieger and Marlies Goehr on October 6, 1985 in Canberra), the only was broken in August 2012 at the Olympic Games. Besides Marlies Goehr she is the only one who was involved in all between 1979 and July 2012 prepared or valid world record in the 4 x 100 - meter relay.

Ingrid Auerswald competed for the SC Motor Jena and coached at Horst -Dieter Hille. In her playing days, she was 1.58 m tall and weighed 59 kg. In the becoming public knowledge after the fall of documents to the state doping in the GDR was found in the doped athletes also the name of Auerswald. After the end of their sports career, she was a trainer at a gym in Jena.
