Ingrid Caven

Ingrid Caven ( born August 3, 1938 as Ingrid Schmidt in Saarbrücken, whose real name is today: Ingrid Cooper ) is a German chanson singer and actress.

Life

Ingrid Caven was born as the daughter of a cigarette dealer in Saarbrücken. She grew up in a musical family on their sister was the mezzo-soprano Trudeliese Schmidt ( born November 7, 1941 † 14 June 2004). She studied psychology and pedagogy.

In 1967, she was discovered by Rainer Werner Fassbinder in a Munich vaudeville at a performance of a play by Peer Raben in the hall. Caven was in many of his films before the camera, even if sometimes only in supporting roles, once she worked as a production manager in The Merchant of Four Seasons with. The two were married from 1970 to 1972. Caven has played in just 50 games and TV films, alongside Fassbinder also directed by Daniel Schmid, Werner Schroeter, Dani Levy and others. In 1970 she was awarded jointly with the female ensemble of antiteater to Hanna Schygulla and Irm Hermann the German Film Award for Best Actress. Eleven years later, she was again recognized for her portrayal of an old and humiliated circus woman in Walter Bock and Rolf Mayer Bührmanns Drama Looping (1980 ) with the Film Award.

As a chanson singer Caven celebrated especially in the 1970s, stage successes, especially in France, where it is sometimes described as a mixture of Édith Piaf and Marlene Dietrich. During their performances also caused her designed by Yves Saint Laurent black velvet dress for attention. Their repertoire consists mainly of compositions by Peer Raben with texts by ravens, Cooper, Wolf Wondratschek, Hans Magnus Enzensberger, Schuhl and others.

Caven is living with the French writer Jean -Jacques Schuhl equipped with a novel about Cavens life ( Ingrid Caven, Paris 2000; translation by Eichborn 2001) in France by success ( Prix Goncourt ). In the early 2000s she experienced as a chanteuse Renaissance.

In 2007, she caused a stir when she criticized in the newspaper Die Zeit Juliane Lorenz and the Rainer Werner Fassbinder Foundation because of the exclusion of the former Cooper employees. The article was called " You can not just erase us" and doubted among other things, the alleged marriage of Juliane Lorenz on Fassbinder. Cinematographer Michael Ballhaus unsupported Cavens statements regarding the " erasure ", but was nevertheless still used by the supposedly " wiped out " without his intervention as evidence.

Ingrid Caven in 2010 played the lead role in the video " When in doubt, for doubt," the Hamburg group Tocotronic, whose concerts are completed for some years with the playing of the songs " The big white birds " from Cavens album " The Evening Star ".
