Ingrid Laubrock

Life and work

Laubrock received from the age of four piano lessons and sang in choirs from the age of eleven. After graduating from high school in 1989 she moved to Britain, where she lived until 2008. In London, she received saxophone lessons with Jean Toussaint and soon worked with musicians in the F- IRE Collective. In 1993 she founded the Brazilian singer Monica Vasconcelos " Nois4 "; after a period of study at Myra Melford was followed in 2006 the establishment of the Nonet "No". In the same year she documented on CD her duo with pianist Liam Noble, which was later expanded with the drummer Tom Rainey Trio for "Sleep Thief" ( same CD at " Intact " 2008). Prizes and awards

She was nominated for the BT Jazz Awards 1999. For their work in F -IRE Laubrock was awarded the 2004 "BBC Jazz Award for Innovation".
