Ingrid-Marie
Chance seedling
Ingrid -Marie, also Hoed Orange, is one of the traditional apple varieties of the old country.
Description
Ingrid -Marie was drawn around 1910 on the site of the School of Horticulture Flemløse on the island of Funen (Denmark) as a chance seedling. As one of the parent varieties Cox Orange is suspected. This bright red solid shell, the color may continue in the extreme flesh, suggests a kinship with Renettensorten.
Ingrid -Marie is especially suitable for not too warm, rather humid locations.
The fruits are ripe mid to late September and about storable until January.
The sweet - sour taste of Ingrid -Marie shows echoes of Cox Orange, where the tree is much higher yielding and more resistant than Cox Orange. Today Ingrid -Marie is increasingly displaced by more sweet and high yielding varieties.
Particularly vulnerable is this variety of fruit tree cancer.
