Ingrīda Ūdre

Ingrida Ingrida Latimira formerly UDRE ( born November 14, 1958 in Riga) is a Latvian politician. She was designated European Commissioner for Taxation and Customs Union.

Ingrida UDRE studied from 1977 to 1984 Economics in Riga. She was since 1998 Member of the Latvian Parliament and last President of the Parliament. In 1999 she was Minister of Economic Affairs of their country. Because of the criticism of the designated EU Commission Barroso at the hearing before the European Parliament, the Latvian government withdrew its candidacy as European Commissioner. In their place, Andris Piebalgs was sent to the Commission.

After a temporary retirement from politics she has been working since April 2013, as consul Tantin for the party alliance Saskaņas Centrs. Besides her native Latvian she is fluent in English and Russian, not quite as good German and French. She is married and has two children.
