Inlet manifold

An intake manifold or intake manifold, intake manifold, intake manifold is in an internal combustion engine, the connecting piece between the engine block and the carburetor or injection system. It is a cast iron part, which is screwed on one side with the engine and on the other with the carburetor. Starting from the gasifier, the fresh gas passes through the intake port and the inlet valves to the combustion chamber. Occasionally produced intake come from heat-resistant plastics used.

Depending on the size of the bore of the intake manifold, the engine power can be increased or decreased. Thus, for example, factory "strong" bikes with the help of smaller sized intake throttled to a lower power to be classified in a lower insurance category.

In gasoline engines, an electrically heated Saugrohrvorwärmer is used (also known as Heizigel ). It is used during the cold start phase to heat the intake fuel-air mixture in order to achieve a better cold -running properties and to allow a more rapid control of the exhaust gases.
