Innings#Baseball

Inning is a term from the baseball sport and refers to the game section in a baseball or softball game. In one inning each of the two teams is even batting side and one field team. In the first half ( top, upper half) of each innings the away team is batting side in the second half ( Bottom, bottom half ) the home team. In games on neutral ground is usually solved.

A half inning ends when three players of the batting team "Off" ( out) are. Then changes the stroke right and the next half inning begins.

In baseball, a game is not limited to time, but usually consists of nine innings, the game is ended when the home team is on the upper half of the last innings and thus it is clear their victory. In many leagues called Mercy rules are applied, which draw the immediate end of the game by himself in a unique score in favor of a team. International application comes to the 10 -run rule, in which the game with ten or more points tour ends at the end of an inning, but not earlier than two and a half innings before the normal end. This rule applies at the Olympic games and tournaments that are hosted by the IBAF. In the MLB No Mercy Rules apply. Elsewhere there may be 15 -run and 20 -run rules, depending on the provisions of its own league.

In the first German Baseball Bundesliga games are called Double Header, ie discharged two games in a row. Here, until 2007, only seven innings were played in the second game, since 2008 is the second game of nine innings. In the lower German leagues are usually all games on five or seven, bounded on the American school and amateur sport to six or seven innings.

Extra inning Since there are no draws in baseball, are tied score after the regular innings so many extra innings appended until a winner is determined or the game must be stopped due to darkness or bad weather, and played at a later date, at the end.

The Japanese professional baseball draws are possible, depending on the league (Pacific or Central League) matches will be completed at the latest by the 12th or 15th inning. The record of baseball league is a 19 - inning game (the game was scheduled for 7 innings ) between the Saarlouis Hornets and the Fürth Pirates (2-1 ) in the 2004 season, which had to be thus extended twelve times.

Example In the presentation of the game outcome in baseball every single inning is listed here on the example of meeting the Boston Red Sox against the New York Yankees on Sunday, October 17, 2004 at Fenway Park in Boston Massachusetts. The game went 12 innings, because in the MLB 9 innings are played, so 3 extensions were necessary:

WP: Curtis Leskanic (1-0 ) LP: Paul Quantrill (0-1) HRs: NYY - Alex Rodriguez ( 2) BOS - David Ortiz ( 1)
