InnoTrans

InnoTrans is one every two years in September, taking place on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds international trade fair for transport technology and vehicle systems.

History and Priorities

The fair, which was held in 1996 for the first time, has developed into the largest and most important trade fair in the rail equipment manufacturing and is thus regarded as the leading event for the industry. The show mainly deals with tracked vehicles for passenger and freight transport and their assemblies and components. There are also various exhibitors for vehicle equipment.

Another focal point is the infrastructure and track technology. Meanwhile, there are increasingly exhibitors also to tunneling technology. Furthermore, to find manufacturers for inpatient facilities and passenger information systems. Third focuses on the information technology and traffic management, and any other useful related services.

InnoTrans in 2008 took place from 23 to 26 September 2008. With 1,912 exhibitors (around 20% more than in 2006 ) from 41 countries, 150,000 square meters of hall space ( over 2006: 50 % more) and 91 vehicles on 3,500 meters of track facilities were new records. Were also counted around 25 % more trade visitors, a total of more than 80,000 from over a hundred countries. The scope of the signed contracts on the show is more than two billion euros. There were several symposia and conferences held on the occasion of InnoTrans. The Open Days were held on 27 and 28 September.

For the InnoTrans 2010 there was again a new record of over 100,000 trade visitors from 100 countries and 2242 exhibitors from 44 countries who completed the entire exhibition site for the first time. In the open area 121 vehicles were presented at 3500 m track.

Due to the strong popularity on the public transport sector an offshoot Public Transport Interiors was planned; after the independent trade fair has been postponed for 2011, it is the first time at InnoTrans 2012 a separate "Public Transport and Interiors Hall Forum " give that offers not only a supplier show a series of multimedia presentations on new design concepts.

For the InnoTrans 2012, 2450 exhibitors from 47 countries have registered. The ninth exhibition now has five exhibition segments: Railway Technology, Railway Infrastructure, Tunnel Construction, Interiors and Public Transport.

Target groups

The main target group are transport company and manufacturer of traffic engineering. In addition, the fair is aimed at contractors, scientists, as well as an extensive media coverage.

At the InnoTrans - public days, which take place after the InnoTrans exhibition of weekends, gets the public for a small entrance fee ( 2010: 2 Euro, 2012: 2.50 euros ) access to the outdoor area with the car park of the Fair ( 3500 m track assets 2010 ). The public days at the weekend will be accompanied by an entertainment program.
