INPEX (Japanese国际 石油 开 発 帝 石 株式会社, Kokusai Sekiyu Kaihatsu Kabushiki - Teiseki gaisha, dt " International Petroleum Exploration Teiseki ", engl. INternational Petroleum Exploration Corporation) is a Japanese company with headquarters in Akasaka, Minato, Tokyo.

The predecessor company in 1966 as Kita- Sumatra Kaiyo Kaihatsu Sekiyu KK Shigen Founded (北 スマトラ 海洋 石油 資源 開発 株式会社, dt " North Sumatra sea oil well exploration ," engl. North Sumatra Offshore Petroleum Exploration ). As of 2001, it was called INPEX. 2006 INPEX acquired Japanese Teikoku Sekiyu KK oil companies (帝国 石油 株式会社in short, Teiseki, dt " Empire - oil," engl Teikoku Oil. ). The first built for holding company took in 2008 in the final merger of the two companies back to the name INPEX.

INPEX is run as a Kabushiki - gaisha and is active in the production and trading of crude oil and natural gas. The largest shareholder is the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, which holds 29.35% of the shares.
