The INS Arihant ( अरिहंत ) ID: S -73, is the first self -made nuclear submarine of the Indian armed forces. It was left on 26 July 2009, as Shipyard in Vishakhapatnam to water.

The nuclear -powered submarine to be armed with twelve submarine -based medium-range missiles of the type K-15 Sagarika with a range of 750 kilometers. By 2012, the INS Arihant should be submitted to the Indian Navy in service, but the plan could not be met. The proposed personnel should [ deprecated] initially for some time to carry out their training in the leased Russian nuclear submarine INS Chakra from 2012.

On August 10, 2013, the reactor was placed in the critical state.
