Inselsee

The Island Lake is an approximately 4.58 km ² large lake, south of the city Güstrow district Rostock in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern. It owes its name to the lying to the south of the lake beautiful island. This divides the lake into a northern part ( Guestrower part ) and a southern ( Gutower lake). The Guestrower part is flat, while the Gutower part is about 6 feet deep on average. The island is connected by bridge to the mainland. The lake is about 4.1 km long and wide, usually less than one kilometer. The island lake is up to 15 meters deep. On the eastern shore of the lake is the small hamlet of Guestrower Heidberg and in the north it borders on the district of Southtown. At the lake there are many cottages and serves the city of Güstrow as a recreational area.

The western part of the lake lies in the nature reserve Gutower Moor and beautiful island.

A regular regatta is, inter alia, the "Silver Axe ", is organized for the Pirate class, which since 1956 by water sports club Güstrow 1928 eV (formerly BSG locomotive Güstrow, Section sailing) and the sports club "unity" Güstrow, Department Sailing. It also held on the Island Lake 1983 BDS Cup with a record attendance of 73 boats and 2005, the " International German Youth Championship " ( IDJM ) in sailing, both also in the pirate class instead.
