Insming

Insming ( German Insmingen ) is a commune with 609 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Château- Salins and Canton Albestroff.

Geography

Insming is located three kilometers north-east of Albestroff at an altitude 215-273 m above sea level. The municipality covers 7.21 km ².

History

The village was first mentioned in the 8th century and belonged since the Middle Ages the Duchy of Lorraine, which was part of the Holy Roman Empire. By the Treaty of Vienna in 1766, the Duchy was ceded to France. After the Peace of Frankfurt Insming had to be ceded to the German Empire in 1871. By the end of World War Insming belonged to the Empire Country Alsace -Lorraine. After the peace treaty of Versailles Insming returned to France. In the period of the Second World War the place from 1940 to 1944 was under German administration. From 1973 to 1984 Insming was part of the community Albestroff.
