Instinet

The Instinet, LLC, a subsidiary of Japanese bank Nomura Holdings, is an American provider of trading systems based in New York City.

History

Instinet, one of the oldest Wall Street firms for electronic trading systems, was founded in 1969. In 1987, Instinet was acquired by Reuters. The IPO Instinet was made in 2001 before the Japanese bank Nomura Holdings bought up the company in 2007.

Already in October 2006, Instinet began with the construction of the multilateral trading system Chi - X, which, the first trading commenced operations on 30 March 2007, six months after the company was founded.
