Institut universitaire de France

The Institute universitaire de France is a facility to promote cutting-edge research and to strengthen interdisciplinary cooperation in Paris. It was founded in August 1991 by ministerial decree in the form of a department of the responsible for the higher education ministry. In the institute active academic teaching staff are appointed in the research, which are characterized by internationally recognized research activities. The aim is on the one hand, to encourage academic institutions and teachers to outstanding research achievements, and on the other hand, high-quality research and teaching in France to promote uniform, as a strong centralization was created by the previous traditional system of appointment to one of the great Parisian institutions.
