The Instituto Nacional de Antropologia e Historia ( INAH ), the Mexican National Institute of Anthropology and History, founded in 1939.

The task of the INAH is the (pre - ) historical, anthropological, paleontological and archaeological exploration of the Mexican cultural heritage and its preservation, protection and promotion. Is coordinating the work of 31 regional INAH centers throughout Mexico by the Technical Secretariat ( Secretaría Técnica ). Be managed over 110,000 historically significant monuments from the 16th to the 19th century and several thousand archaeological sites throughout the country.

The best known of the 100 maintained by the INAH museums is the Museo Nacional de Antropología in Mexico City.
