Integral nationalism

As Integral nationalism, the American historian Carlton Hayes called (1882-1964) in his 1928 book The Historical Evolution of Modern Nationalism of one of five types of nationalism.

He was the French monarchists Charles Maurras (1868-1952) represented and is considered a proto -fascist, chauvinist, Catholic- royalist political idea. The Integral nationalism excessive postulated as a semi- mythical unity Nation as an indispensable basis of every political and cultural activity and as a precondition of any social or individual welfare. He sees the nation represented by the King at the top of a hierarchically organized state, which is subordinate to any other interest group and their activities are intended to promote the welfare of the nation.

The main enemy shall be the caused by the French Revolution of 1789 political liberalism, associated with Democrats, socialists, Protestants, Freemasons, Jews and foreigners, which must be overcome by a return to proven order of hereditary monarchy. The revolutionary and romantic individualism have solved the people from the timeless and universal order of the nation. Thus, the true France ( pays réel ) the France of liberal democracy is ( pays légal ) compared to the classical traditional institutions.

Another characteristic is the Nationalsyndikalismus that, decentralize, with the exception of the military, the political, administrative, legal and civilian authorities and decision-making processes, that is, from the power centers of the big cities move to the provinces and municipalities, wants and economic liberalism by a strictly national collectivism replaced. The class struggle of the proletariat is superfluous by its insertion into the national community.
