IntelliJ IDEA

IntelliJ IDEA is an Integrated Development Environment (IDE ) of the software company JetBrains for the Java programming language. Features include refactoring, support for Java EE, Ant, JUnit, a graphical GUI editor, version control tools, as well as different ways to automatically generate code.

The functionality can be extended using plug -ins. These are developed partly from JetBrains, IntelliJ part of the community. Writing your own plug -ins is encouraged and is currently in each year supported by a plug-in competition where the winners will receive cash and software prizes.

There exist since version 9.0 two different editions, the paid Ultimate Edition and the free, open source Community Edition.

Since 2009 ( under the name " JetBrains Web IDE " ) with PhpStorm an offshoot of IntelliJ IDEA, which focuses on the PHP programming language, as well as WebStorm for JavaScript development.

Since May 2013 there is with Android Studio an offshoot of Google to create apps for Android.
