Interchange station

A junction station is a through station in which cross at least two routes, such as Duisburg Central, Koblenz Hauptbahnhof or main train station Neuss.

The different lines intersect here mostly on one level and are connected by switches. It is also possible that the main passage routes even just meet at the station without crossing himself and be out a little later on a bridge over one another, for example in the train stations Blankenberg ( Meckl ) and Geltendorf. In Blankenberg a direct drive from the train station (Rostock ) Biitzow to Wismar was not possible without resetting because there was no corresponding track connection.

A crossing station can also occur in a particular design as Tower Station, here the distances are within the station at different height levels and lead level freely over each other. In some of these stations, the tracks are connected by connecting curves. Examples of an executed as a tower station crossing railway station Berlin Hauptbahnhof and Osnabrück Hauptbahnhof.

But crossing stations are also railway stations ( and breakpoints ), the (often with secondary lines ) make it possible for a single-track route that meet here trains. Examples are the Queichtalbahn whose crossing station Munchweiler are at the Rodalb and Annweiler am Trifels. However, the distance given here is a largely single-track main railway to railway construction and operation order.
