Interface Control Document

An Interface Control Document ( ICD) to about German documentation for interface control, describes how an interface of a system is structured and how they can be addressed. It is immaterial how the system itself works. Complex systems can thus be decomposed into modular subsystems that communicate with each other via defined interfaces to each other.

For example defines the ICD fixed the navigation system GPS, which signals are sent and how they are to be interpreted. The ICD is the manufacturer in the position to build navigation systems, without having to know anything about the operation of the satellites or the generation of signals.
