Interlaken Airport

The Interlaken airfield ( ICAO code LSMI ) is a disused military airfield of the Swiss Air Force in Matten bei Interlaken.

At the site was located from 1919 to 1930 a civilian airfield. The airfield was created in 1940 as one of the airfields in the Swiss redoubt during the Second World War and opened in 1941. From 1971 to 1982, again from 2009, the Swiss Air Rescue operates a helicopter base at the military airfield.

The airfield was decommissioned in 2003. On 24 May 2003, opened today Mermaid Park by Erich von Däniken under the name Mystery Park. Since 2005 takes place on the airfield also the Greenfield Festival.
