International Anti-Corruption Day

The World Anti -Corruption Day or Weltantikorruptionstag is celebrated since 2003 on the 9th of December, when the United Nations Convention against Corruption in Merida (Mexico) was present for the signing.

It is an annual event organized by the UN, that is promoted by the United Nations with the aim to raise awareness of corruption and related issues, and the people who fight corruption in their communities and governments to show. This event occurs on the 9th of December of each year, but it is not treated as a holiday.

The United Nations has passed a resolution to create the Anti -Corruption Day in 2003, the same year, where the United Nations has drafted a Convention against Corruption. The Convention was ratified two years later, in full, in 2005, and it includes far- reaching obligations of the signatory States to combat corruption.

This contract includes, inter alia, various measures and codes of conduct to ensure the independence of the judiciary, objective criteria for recruitment and promotion of civil servants and public procurement. It also deals with regulations on money laundering and claim for compensation opportunities for victims of corruption.
