International Cartographic Association

The International Cartographic Association (ICA ) (English International Cartographic Association (ICA ), French Association cartographique International ( ACI) ) is the global governing body of cartographic societies and other institutions. Your goal is to coordinate the development of cartography world.

The first president of the association was Eduard Imhof. Currently, Georg Gartner is the chairman of the ICA.

ICA Award

By ICA Awards Committee two awards will be given:

  • Carl Mannerfelt gold medal is an honor for cartographers who have made significant contributions to the field of cartography and is awarded only in rare cases.
  • The ICA Honorary Fellowship is an award for special services to the ICA.

ICC conference

The International Cartographic Conference is held every two years in one of the countries which are members of the Association. In 1961, this conference was organized by a governing body in Paris for the first time.
