International Centre for the Prevention of Crime

The International Centre for the Prevention of Crime ( ICPC ) is headquartered in Montreal and is the only global non-governmental organization (NGO ) that is focused exclusively on crime prevention and social security.

Organization

The International Centre for Crime Prevention was founded in 1994 at the initiative of Mayor Gilbert Bonnemaison, the founding President of the European Forum for Urban Safety. Members of the ICPC are both States and non-governmental organizations. From the Federal Republic of Germany, the German Congress on Crime Prevention is a member of the center.

Tasks

Creation and development of the Centre carried out in close partnership with the UN agencies UN -HABITAT and UNODC, which are also members of ICPC at the same time. The central part of the activities of ICPC is to support the exchange of knowledge and experience in international crime prevention. To this end, ICPC published among others every two years an international report on current trends and developments in crime prevention.
