International Chopin Piano Competition

The International Chopin Competition (Polish: . Międzynarodowy bankruptcy Pianistyczny in Fryderyka Chopina ) is one of the oldest and most prestigious music competitions in the world. He is also one of the few monographic piano competitions that are dedicated to the work of a single composer.

The first competition took place in 1927 in the Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra, as the initiator applies the Polish pianist and pedagogue Jerzy Żurawlew. Other events took place in 1932 and 1937, after the wartime interruption of the competition was held in 1949 and 1955. Since 1955, the competitions will take place in a 5-year cycle. The event belongs since 1957 to the World Federation of International Music Competitions and has been organized since 1960 by the Chopin Society.

The main idea of the competition is to promote young pianists, the participants must be 17 to 28 years old. In the best piano artists wait lucrative contracts in the best concert halls.
