International Commerce Centre

The International Commerce Centre (Chinese环球 贸易 广场, abbreviation ICC, development name Union Phase 7 ) is the highest with 484 meters and 108 floors skyscraper in Hong Kong. The building is part of the Union Square, which is located in Hong Kong's Kowloon district, on the same subway station (MTR Kowloon Station) is located. Owner of the International Commerce Centre and the further building of the Union Sqares are the Hong Kong subway company ( MTR Corporation Ltd. ) And Sun Hung Kai Properties Ltd.. ( SHKP ). The tower was built according to the plans of the offices Kohn Pedersen Fox and Wong Ouyang and completed in 2010.

Planning and construction

Initial planning of the construction project were published in 2000. Originally created by a 574 meters tall skyscraper at Kowloon district a building complex with the name Union Phase 7. Two years later, these plans were, however, rejected and revised the concept of the project. Should be built now a 484 meter high skyscraper with a mixed use. A little later we started construction work on behalf of the project developer Sun Hung Kai Properties. The design contract was awarded to the American architectural firm Kohn Pedersen Fox and to the Chinese Wong & Ouyang office who drafted the design of the building in community work. The company Sanfield Building Contractors Limited was responsible for the overall implementation of the construction process. In 2005 the work on the underground floors of the building and the foundation have been completed. Was then started with the construction of the actual stories above the ground. In the summer of 2009, the International Commerce Centre reached its final height, while the work on the facade and the interior still lasted until mid-2010.

Description

With a height of 484 meters, the International Commerce Centre is the tallest building in Hong Kong and thus replaced the 412 -meter-high Two International Finance Centre from. Moreover, it is currently (as of 2014) is the seventh tallest building in the world.

The over 108 floors operative building has a square plan and concludes with a flat roof. Are each smaller Einsprünge at the corners. The facade of the skyscraper was entirely covered with bluish shimmering glass. The main elements of the exterior walls consist mainly of steel. Inside the skyscraper is a solid core of reinforced concrete. In him run all supply lines such as elevators, cables and pipes and ducts for ventilation of the tower.
