International Conference on Population and Development

At the global level has been held since 1974 every 10 years a World Population Conference (English International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD )) of the UN held to discuss measures to curb the overpopulation of the planet.

In Cairo, consulted in 1994 about 20,000 delegates, including the then U.S. President Bill Clinton, more representatives of various governments, members of UN agencies and non-governmental organizations on a variety of topics, such as immigration, infant mortality, birth control, training of women and protection of women from unsafe abortion.

2004 has not been any such conference - however, there was a Parliamentary Assembly on the subject in Strasbourg.
