International Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics

The International Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics ( ICIAM ) has to promote internationally the goal of applied mathematics. This is done through regular meetings in the form of conferences. The ICIAM place every 4 years in a different country. An attempt is often to change the continent. Previously, he was, however, directed only in Europe, North America and Australia.

This conference series began in Paris in 1987 and was continued in Washington, DC, Hamburg, Edinburgh and Sydney.

2007 is the venue Zurich. The organizer is the ETH and University of Zurich. 2011 is planned at the next Congress in Vancouver.

Inter alia, include the conference topics Numerical Methods, Differential Equations, waves, and wavelets. Furthermore, collaborated in this series with the " Society for Applied Mathematics and Mechanics GAMM ". This allowed the subject area by 14 research areas to be expanded. It held a total 2877 lectures.

At the congress will also find mathematical societies of the remaining continents a platform. There is a collaboration with the "African Math Union ( AMU) ," " China Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics ( CSIAm ) " and the "European Society for Mathematical and Theoretical Biology ( ESMTB ) ".
