The International Council on Monuments and Sites ( ICOMOS ), the International Council on Monuments and Sites.
It was founded in 1965 in Warsaw in the wake of the signing of the Charter of Venice ( 1964) and is a sub-organization of UNESCO. ICOMOS is committed to maintaining protection and maintenance of monuments and the preservation of historical heritage. He advises UNESCO on historic preservation issues of world cultural heritage. Prior to the appointment of new sites it shall report and make recommendations for decision to the World Heritage Committee from.
