International Dance Council

The Conseil International de la Danse (CID ) ( German International Tanzrat, English International Dance Council ) is an international umbrella organization for all forms of dance.

History

As a non -profit international NGO was founded on 12 November 1973, a Constituent Assembly with the support of UNESCO at its headquarters in Paris, where she also has her seat. Its first president was the German choreographer Kurt Jooss. CID sees itself as a global forum, the international, national and local organizations alike will merge as individual dance activities. It represents the art of dance in general and advises the UNESCO, national and local government agencies, international organizations and institutions. In CID 700 organizations, associations, schools, community groups and festivals, as well as 4,400 individuals from 158 countries are currently represented as members.

World Dance Day

At the suggestion of the International Committee of the dance of the International Theatre Institute ( ITI UNESCO ) World Day of Dance was proclaimed in 1982 for the first time, which has since been held annually on April 29 worldwide. Will remember this day with the birthday of Jean -Georges Noverre. CID members and CID sections support the implementation of this Memorial Day worldwide.
