The International Association for Housing, Urban and Regional Planning ( IFHP ) (English International Federation for Housing and Planning ( IFHP ) ) is a global network of professionals in the field of Housing, Urban and Regional Planning. The organization runs a number of events, bpsw. an annual convention, through to allow international knowledge transfer. Besides German, English and French are the official languages.

History

The IFHP was founded in 1913 by Ebenezer Howard. Howard is the founding father of the garden city idea, a combination of housing and planning concept in response to big-city problems. Howard had founded zurvor ready the British Town and Country Planning Association in 1899. The establishment of an internationally oriented organization represents a further development in the light of the professionalization of the planning discipline

The focus has widened since then. Core work is the international exchange as a source of information and inspiration.
