International Film Festival of India

The International Film Festival of India ( IFFI ) is an international film festival with specialized competition. It is the oldest film festival in India.

The first festival took place in 1952, since 1975 it is organized annually. As the main organizer step on the Indian Directorate of Film Festivals and the Indian Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The venue changed annually (usually New Delhi ); since 2004, it is firmly based in the Indian state of Goa. The International Film Festival of India is accredited by the international film producers association FIAPF. Since 2008, the festival is under the leadership of Manoj Srivastava, CEO of Entertainment Society Of Goa organized. The 43rd International Film Festival of India was held from 30 November 2012 20 November.

In the competition run in Asia produced films by directors with Asian origin. The two main awards are:

  • The Golden Peacock for best film of an Asian director
  • The Silver Peacock for the most promising Asian director

In addition to other sections such as tributes, homages, and Indian mainstream cinema (Bollywood) there is also an international Panorama section ( "Cinema of the World" ) with films that have not previously been shown in India. Overall, each about 200 films will be presented.
