International Forum Design

The association iF Industrie Forum Design eV founded in 2001 in Hanover, the company iF International Forum Design GmbH, which organizes the annual design competition iF Award.

History

1952 in Hanover, central office was created for the promotion of German workmanship eV, which from now on as the carrier of the annual special shows at the Hannover Messe acted. For the first time there was 1953, the " special show designed Industrial Goods " at the Hanover trade fair. In 1959 the exhibition was programmatically renamed " The Good Industrial Design ". The Association The Good Industrial Design Association was founded in 1965. The chairman was Zietzschmann Ernst, who was the head of the art school in Hanover at the time. In 2001, then the iF International Forum Design GmbH was founded out of the club out. It takes over since the organization of the competitions. 2007, the association was merged with the Design Zentrum Munich and now sits in Munich.

IF Award

The association is since 1954 the organizers of the discharged annually iF Award, a series of six competitions. At the individual competitions took 2002 about 5,000 contributions from the fields of communications, industrial and product design part. 2011 have been awarded by 2,756 registered products 993 products with the iF product design award.
