International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme

The International Geosphere - Biosphere Programme (IGBP ) is an internationally oriented research program that examines global change (Global Change).

Overview

The scientific objective of the company founded in 1986 IGBP is to describe, together with the World Climate Research Programme ( WCRP ) and the International Human Dimensions Programme on Global Environmental Change ( IHDP ), the interactive physical, chemical and biological processes that regulate the Earth system, and to understand, and this with their natural as well as anthropogenic change.

The International Science Council ( ICSU ) is - as in the two other global change programs - the sponsor of the IGBP.
