International Horn Society

The International Horn Society (IHS ) is a professional society, are united in the horn players from around the world. It was founded in 1970 at the Second International Horn Workshop in Tallahassee Florida / USA.

The company has set itself the goal of promoting performance practice, teaching methodology and composition. In addition, the research, preservation and promotion of the French horn is to be supported as a musical instrument.

The company has over 3,500 members from 55 countries. Among the members of both famous soloists, orchestral musicians, university teachers, students and horn builders, composers, music publishers and amateur horn players are of all ages.

The Company issues with The Horn Call out a journal that is published annually. It also has a program to support young musicians who study the horn.

Currently Jeffrey Snedeker is chairman of IHS.

Since 1985, the company awards each year named after Giovanni Punto " Punto IHS Award".
